1947 Kurtis Offenhauser
Chassis Number: 223
Offenhauser Engine Number: 271

Owner: Shelby York and Ron Wollmer

Sold from the Kurtis plant December 1947 to KK dealer Ralph Wilkie in the Midwest, this car has had an extensive racing history.  It passed through several owners and eventually wound up in the Kansas City area being driven by Bob Frye as the "Pizza Hut Special".   It won a couple of 100 mile events before being sold to Bob Johnson in the pacific northwest.  Les Stark raced it in the BCRA before Bob Ware of the WRA returned it to it's original configuration.  It ran actively in the club before being bought by York and Wollmer in 1999.  The car then underwent a complete restoration by Dennis Web.
This car was awarded "First Prize" in the Midget Category at the Long Beach "Celebration of Speed and Splendor" Car Show, April 28, 2002.
